Dom Dziecka: an orphanage near Warsaw, Poland

Some of the children at Dom Dziecka.
Dom Dziecka is an orphanage located 300km southeast of Warsaw in a small village known to be in one of Poland’s poorer parts. Dom
Dziecka's mission is to help any abandoned child aged from 0+, by providing shelter
and full support as far as physical and mental needs are concerned.
Dom Dziecka is currently home to 28 children. This number changes every day, since it is not only an orphanage, but also an emergency shelter for children in critical need. In fact, all but three kids permanently living there do have parents. In most cases, however, Polish authorities have had to take the children out of their homes, due to unbearable living circumstances. In many cases the childrens’ natural parents are addicted to alcohol and/or drugs.

What they need most
Dom Dziecka's biggest dream is to build a proper playground for the children. Besides this wish, Dom Dziecka would also benefit from:
How Kids First is helping
Cultural Care Au Pair staff from our Polish and German office have visited Dom Dziecka three times. (On each occasion we were invited in and served a nice hot lunch, in a building that comes across as old, but is in fact very well kept and clinically clean.) From our interaction with their staff and with the children, it is obvious that any support and attention from our organization would bring them a lot of joy and hope.
Our plan is for our Polish recruitment staff to continue visiting as we raise funds to build the children of Dom Dziecka a new playground. We have also committed to building and hosting for Dom Dziecka their own website through which they can generate donations on their own. In addition, we will purchase language books to help them learn English and sports equipment so they may have proper gear. |
