Supporting Youth Cycling in Colombia

We’re proud to announce our new partnership with the Esteban Chaves Foundation, a Colombian organization that has spent the last nine years transforming the lives of children and youth through the power of sport. Rooted in the belief that every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential — regardless of their circumstances — the foundation uses cycling as a vehicle for empowerment, education, and community connection across under-resourced communities in and around Bogotá.

For many children in these communities, access to structured sport, mentorship, and safe spaces to grow is limited. The foundation uses cycling to create those opportunities, helping young people build confidence, develop skills, and find a sense of belonging. To date, more than 2,500 children have benefited from its programs.

The Project

This year, our grant supports the launch of PAT (Programa de Apoyo al Talento), a new initiative for young cyclists that brings together cycling development, life skills, and personal development. Inspired by Esteban Chaves’ own story, PAT will provide bicycles, training, and mentorship to approximately 70 youth ages 6 to 18 from rural and urban communities near Bogotá.

Our grant will specifically support the community engagement side of the program, helping provide opportunities for participants and their families to connect and grow together. This includes monthly educational workshops for parents, the Copa Kids cycling event, health check-ups, and family activities throughout the year.

By supporting families alongside young athletes, PAT aims to create a community around the sport — one where young people can develop not only as cyclists, but also as confident, healthy, and resilient individuals.
